Saltoluokta Mountain Station is situated in roadless mountain area at the Laponia World Heritage. During this eight hour hike with a guide you will learn more about the natur, culture and lifestyle of the area. Laponia World Heritage is unique for its natural and cultural values. Here the indigenous people of the region, Sámi, are active in both reindeer herding in the area as well as being a part of governing the World Heritage Site.

As a part of the experience you take the ferry across Langas, part of Luleå River, giving you great views of the mountains. The hike takes you through easy terrain to a waterfall, and during the hike your guide will tell you more about the history and present life in the area including nature and Sámi culture.

The summer in this area means vivid nature and great chances for spotting animals that inhabit the area. It’s the time of the year when reindeer graze from the rich mountainsides and nature literally explodes under the midnight sun. The berries growing along the way are filled with energy and you can refill your water bottle with clean water straight from the streams.

Lunch from local produce will be prepared and served outdoors giving you a taste of the Arctic lifestyle.
